Fifty People, One Question: New York

A post by George

A simple question can lead you anywhere. What would you answer?

“We asked the same question and it took us somewhere new. Gone were the lazy days of summer. A cool breeze swept the streets with leaves under foot and the familiar hustle of the city. Welcome to autumn in New York.” Also worth a look is One Question: New Orleans

Typographic football skills

Alphabet Football Team

The guys over at Konstfack college of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm created life-size typographic costumes and then decided to have a game of football in the suits. Football + Typography = Awesome.

Knitta Please!

I can’t believe I have only just found out about Knitta Please, a tag crew of knitters, bombing inner cities around the world with vibrant, stitched works of art. Wrapped their art around everything from beer bottles to public monuments and utility poles.

Three Dimensional Reading

A post by George

I love pop-up style books, it’s like a handcrafted technology and it’s combined with typography! I love the intricacies, the details and prototyping this would have been loads of fun (must have been done by a really talented team).

On a side note, how cool is the music!? Put a massive grin on my face.

Massive NY-Times (adbust)

A post by George

New York Times

Over 1 million copies of a spoof New York Times was recently distributed across NY and LA. The free, “special-edition” detailed stories such as the end of the Iraq war, free healthcare in the US and was full of great spoof ads.

The hoax mimicked the real NYT paper and was accompanied by a spoof website. It was an elaborate plan that took over six months of planning and execution. 1.2M papers were printed on six presses and distributed over the US.

Apart from the massive scale of this there is the obvious question of how did the fund it? The cost implications would have run into the tens of thousands (maybe more). I think it’s great that people still have the belief, energy and willpower to get up and say something.

“Wouldn’t you love to receive news like this every day? You can, but you can’t buy it — you have to make it happen”.
