Location Dependant Ads

Chrysler Location Ad

I’ve collected a few of these over time, I think ads that are built around their location really work. Not only do they give the extra wow-factor that is often lost with traditional ads but the consumer (often) feels the ads are less intrusive or somewhat more targeted.

London Design Week

A post by George

Design Week

Today is the beginning of London Design Week! There are loads of design orientated talks on most of which are free, you just have to book tickets.

If you can’t make it – or get tickets to any of the talks this week then don’t worry, I think the Designers Block in covent garden is going to be a must see and is on over the weekend. Over sixty UK and international designers present new works, spread over more than 10,000 square feet at Number One The Piazza.

10.00 – 19.00 Thursday – Saturday
10.00 – 17.00 Sunday
No1 The Piazza. Covent Garden. WC2E 8AA.

This weeks (tech) news.

Every tech (by which i mean mac) fanboy is going to be doing a tech-rundown of the last week – it’s been an exciting one… god i’m a geek

Apple have announced a new range of music players, the rather sexy new ipod nanos and the 2g Touch. Nothing out-of-the-blue here, the Kevin Rose leek hinted towards the design of the Nano and the touch was a pretty obvious development. I was suprised not to see the new macbooks in the infamous ‘oh and one more thing…’ part of Jobs’ speech but that’s just a matter of time (hints towards October?)

iPod Nano

Also this I found out about the TikiTag project. It’s a really cool little social networking project – TikiTag provides a link between the real and digital world. Essentially you have ‘tags’ (glorified barcodes) that can be attached to any object, then scanned on a reader to bring up any webpage, photo or file that is associated with the ‘tag’. Potentially a very cool way to merge your scrapbook and your computer, things you collected on holidays etc etc. I don’t think it’s ever going to be massive but love the concept.

TikiTag

With the purchase of my iPhone 3g, location based services and social networking is at the forefront of my mind.. The TikiTag project is cool but because of the hardware requirements it will never be massive, plus to be honest the associated ‘Alcatel-Lucent Ventures’ brand sucks, its very corporate and cold.

Effortless!

Just found this new ad from Brylcreem called effortless and it’s brilliant. After doing some research I found they have also released a great mockumentry to go with. Excellent branding effort.
