Chaos in the Print Shop

A post by George

Awesome viral video based in a printshop for Clustarack.
I love this type of viral, the planning, effort & execution has to be perfect!

Reminiscent of the Honda Viral; while both are real, the low production values (in my opinion) make this better, both more believable and fascinating! Here is a link to the Honda Viral for those who havn’t seen it (a must see either way!)

Homage to the Stamp

Rotis Semi Serif, infographics & a great ampersand... Reasons enough to love Otl Aicher.

A really nice set of stamps designed by Gavin Potenza, ‘Homage to the stamp’ inspired by Otl Aicher. These stamps not only look fantastic but really encapsulate what Aicher was all about. Aicher is a big inspiration for me – probably most famous for his work on the 1972 Munich olympics or Rotis Sans (depending on your background). Apart from Aichers obvious love for colour & fantastic attention to detail he was one of the first designers to really bring focus to infographics and data visualization, now another love of mine (must remember to post about it soon!).

I think this is a great tribute to a fantastic designer, make sure you check out Potenzas website, Exploratory Design & take a look at The 1972 Muich Design Report – A really good flickr group featuring lots of Aichers graphic design work. Also worth a punt is his Linotype Profile – for samples of Rotis (sans/semi & serif) and a short Bio.

Last Round on the Underground

A post by George

Passengers might now be barred from having open containers of alcohol on the Underground, London buses, Docklands Light Railway and trams… but it was a bloody good night!

The alcohol ban on London’s transport system has started, after a night of partying on the Underground during which 17 people were arrested and six stations had to be closed as thousands of people gathered on the network in advance of the ban.

Despite the negative press the event has been getting, my experience was really positive. It’s not often that so many people from so many cultures can come together and enjoy a night out. Easily one of the most interesting and heart warming nights i’ve had since I moved here. Community spirit is still alive in England, you just have to ban something :)

Below are a few pictures & videos that we took as well as the best of what we’ve found on youtube
